Visit Thunderbird Atlatl at the Flint River Knapin in Georgia February 22 to 23

Thunderbird Atlatl will be at the Flint River Knapin in Georgia Saturday, February 22, to Sunday, February 23.

This is the second year for the Knapin which takes place at the Whigham Community Club, 267 East Broad Avenue, Whigham, Georgia. Admission is $5. Children 5 and under are free.

There will be primitive arts and crafts, food vendors, demonstrations, modern arrowheads, lithic arts and atlatl demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Off to a busy start for the new year!

Looking forward to 2023, the Thunderbird Atlatl staff is setting up our calendar and planning trips for the year! We already were able to travel to Ohio earlier this month for a project with Kent State University. We had a great time with Kent State students and staff with a research project involving stone and copper projectile hafted on atlatl darts.

We appreciated the help of students using atlatls to cast many darts for research on what turned out to be a rather rainy day.

We will post links to the research results as papers and results are published.

Thunderbird Atlatl Designs

Thunderbird Atlatl has a variety of atlatl designs. Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl has been designing atlatls for over 30 years.

Some of our designs are interpretations of ancient designs and many are designs inspired by years of using the atlatl for sport, hunting, fishing and recreation.

All of our designs are copyrighted and the names are unique to our atlatls. Many of our designs have kits if you wish to make your own atlatl.
