New year! Starting off in our new shop!

We made it through the holiday season and even managed to get most of our machinery moved to our new shop! We are excited about the efficiencies and space in the new shop. Plans are now to finish moving a few more machines and then get the old shop ready to be our new packing and fletching area. This has been an ongoing project the last few years but some projects just take time!

The new shop is located only a few hundred feet from the old shop so that has made the moving process not as challenging but still an issues of brute force and clever (!) staging to make production more efficient. We will keep you updated as we go forward.

Meanwhile, we need to update our online catalog and work on a new paper catalog. There never seems to be enough time to get everything done! We appreciate our customers’ support but you do keep us busy! We were able to get out a few more times this past year and hope we can do that again in 2022. We will see how the world moves with the everchanging pandemic. We all take two steps forward and then another one back. The good news is that atlatls are a perfect activity for outside and social distancing so we have kept busy with our mail order business.

Atlatls Great Outdoor Individual or Small Group Activity

In this time of social distancing, small groups and less travel, atlatls do offer a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors without a lot of people.

While many of the atlatl meets have been cancelled this year at state parks or public places, a few have and continue to be held in backyards or private locations. Check out the World Atlatl Association Event Page to see the status of events. The Ohio Atlatl Association is still keeping its dates but has switched to private locations as public places grapple with summer of 2020 events.

Events are being held with awareness of small groups, social distancing and masks. If you are unable to get to a group, spend some time by yourself or with a family member practicing your skills. The WAA will try to keep everyone updated about events. Stay safe as our country wrestles with this pandemic.

No doubt- atlatls offer a great sport for social distancing and small groups. Stay safe and well.

Check out this depiction from the Aztec Codex Nuttal. Looks like these folks are observing social distancing.

Still time to order for Christmas delivery! Gift Certificates also available!

Our elves are busy at the Thunderbird Atlatl shop. We are working closely with delivery services to make sure orders go out in time for delivery by Christmas. We usually use priority mail because our post office is just down the street and delivery is pretty quick. We also can ship via UPS/Fed Ex/DHL if that works better for you.

The post office says the last day to ship priority mail for delivery by Christmas is Saturday, December 21. If you want to guarantee delivery, we can ship via Priority Mail Express. There is an extra charge but delivery is guaranteed.

Worried about delivery and not sure what to get for a gift, you can order a gift certificate. We can send the gift certificate in regular mail or deliver it via email. An atlatl kit also makes a nice gift and is a great holiday project.
