Back from Points South

The Thunderbird Atlatl staff had a great time in Florida. We were unable to make the Ochlockonee River State Park, Sopchoppy, Fl. show because of a vehicle problem but were able to make it to the Silver River Knap In and Stone Age Arts Festival. Scott Mitchell and staff at Silver River are developing a great program for flintknappers and atlatlists.

The atlatl range was busy for three days. Hundreds of youth and older folks had a chance to try the atlatl. We look forward to next year’s shows!

After leaving Silver River, we traveled north to the Gainesville area where Bob Berg presented a workshop on atlatls for a group of youth and adults at Grace Methodist Church and the Florida Outdoors Ministry. Then it was on to meet Wayne and Carita Wall of Shadd Deer Farms of Lake Butler, Florida.. The Walls run a great operation and have lots of opportunities for anyone interested in atlatl hunting.

Atlatl Kits – a Great Workshop or Project Idea

Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl leads a workshop in Vermont.

Many of you know we offer a number of atlatl and dart kits. We have found kits to be a wonderful way to introduce atlatls to many people.

Along with saving on the cost of completed atlatls and darts, atlatl kits give those putting them together the satisfaction of really making the atlatl and darts their own! We offer special prices on our atlatl kits when you buy them in bulk. It’s a great project for a scout or youth group and even for a group of adults!

We usually have people make three darts and an atlatl in our workshops. Our workshops last four to five hours and complete with everyone taking time to use their new atlatls and darts. Interested in setting up an atlatl workshop? Give us a call at 800-836-4520 and we will be happy to set you up.

Start an Atlatl Club! Check out some of our videos!

Casting an atlatl is great fun but it’s even more fun with other people! We have had some customers recently ask if there are other people in their area interested in the atlatl. If you are looking for someone in your area who is also using an atlatl, give us a call at 800-836-4520 and we would be happy to try to connect people.

You can also start your own group. There are several college atlatl clubs and regional groups who get together to share atlatl fun. We have group package rates for both our finished atlatls and darts and our kits. Just call us at 800-836-4520 and we’ll help you get started.

We have been working on updating our You Tube channel, Facebook page and our online catalog. These are all still works in progress but check out some of the videos we have updated on You Tube. We will try to post them on this page too. Many of thee are from programs we have done over the years. Thanks to Peter Berg for helping us update the You Tube videos!

We think our new online catalog is easier to use then the previous catalog but we are still trying to perfect it. If you have any questions, give us a call at 800-836-4520. You can always order over the telephone too if you are having problems with the online catalog.
