Thunderbird Atlatl will be at the 28th annual Stone Tool Craftsman Show this weekend. Come visit us. We will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday through 2 p.m.
The show is open Friday, Aug. 25; Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27. It is open until 5 Friday and Saturday.
What’s the purpose of an atlatl weight? Here’s a video of Bob Berg discussing his theory on why atlatl weights (boat stones) are a counterbalance for heavy darts. Bob doesn’t believe that weights are for adding more “power” or “speed” to your atlatl throw, as many have theorized, but actually to make holding a loaded dart more comfortable and balanced while hunting. Bob also explains why bannerstones are not atlatl weights.
This weekend we are at the 7th Annual Silver River Knap-In and Primitive Technology Show in Florida. The show runs all day on Saturday and Sunday (the 18th and 19th) at Silver Springs State Park. We’ll be hosting ISACs every day, and selling atlatls all weekend. Come see us if you are in the area!
It has been a whirlwind weeks of travel for the Thunderbird Atlatl crew since July but this Saturday we end our 2015 travels with the Candor Fall Festival. Thunderbird Atlatl will be at Side Hill Acres Goat Farm on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with atlatl demonstrations and competitions. Please stop by and visit!
There will be lots of events throughout the Candor area including a woodcarvers show, a quilt show, bake sales, book sales, yard and garage sales, dinners, family friendly events and much more. Our location at Side Hill Acres also has a lot of activity including goat farm tours, wine tasting, goat cheese, many other vendors and food. Enjoy!

The Falling Leaves Festival, an interactive Pow Wow, is being held at Watson Homestead neat Painted Post, NY, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Bill Crouse, Faith Keeper of the Cold Springs Longhouse of the Seneca Nation as MC. Allegheny River Dancers will lead exhibition and intertribal powwow dancing. Old Bridge Singers are the featured drum group. Grand Entry at 11am Friday and noon on Saturday. And, of course, Thunderbird Atlatl will be there! Stop by.
