We also have a couple of programs set for June in New York State. One will be June 24 for the Delaware River Sojurn program and another will be in Altamont, NY June 29 and 30. There will be an atlatl workshop on June 29. The event will take place at Indian Ladder Farms.

We will be finalizing our spring, summer and fall schedule in the next few days so check out our event page to see where we will be this summer. If you are interested in attending a workshop, either call Thunderbird Atlatl at 800-836-4520 or the program’s sponsors.
We will be at the Primitive Pursuits Day on May 19th in Ithaca, New York. If you are in the area, it is an interesting day for those who want to learn primitive skills. It is a family event and folks of all ages are welcome. The event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.
The Aztecs & the Atlatl, Upcoming Events!
The Aztecs and their use of the atlatl was featured in a recent History Channel production. Josh Bernstein of Digging for the Truth showed how atlatls were used by the Aztecs. Mr. Bernstein interviewed William R. Perkins for the program. William Perkins refers to himself as “Atlatl Bob” – probably because his middle name is Robert.
Of course, the “Atlatl Bob” is sometimes confusing to our customers who think they know “Atlatl Bob” because of Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl. So for the record, Bob Berg is not “Atlatl Bob”!
We are busy scheduling events for the summer months and are looking forward to the many workshops and shows we have planned. The World Atlatl Association will be meeting in New York State this year. It will be great to have our many atlatl friends in New York and in attendance at the popular Stone Tool Technology Show.
The New York Atlatl Association will hold a meeting next week at the Earth Day Show in Chemung, New York Check out the World Atlatl Association, International Atlatl Society, or New York Atlatl Association web pages for more information.
Thunderbird Atlatl will be sponsoring an Atlatl Fishing Contest at the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky the first weekend in May. Please give us a call at 1-800-836-4520 or email us at Thunderbirdatlatl@gmail.com for more information.
Thunderbird Atlatl “on camera” & “in the news”
Thunderbird Atlatl made the international news this month with a feature on owner Bob Berg in Traditionell Bogenschiessen (Traditional Bow Shooting)in Germany. The article was written by Frank Reinshagen. The article discusses the development of Thunderbird Atlatl and the company’s growth.
The article also shows Jaap Koppedrayer of Yumi Archery and Bob Berg figuring out the art of Japanese bow string making.
Thunderbird Atlatl dart shafts were used to make darts for a documentary on Naked Science called Prehistoric Americans. It was great seeing Thunderbird’s darts in action!
Spring is here and it is time to get your atlatl orders in for the upcoming spring and summer months. Give us a call or order on line.
Atlatl Hunting & Fishing
I just came back from a boar hunt in Texas. I Drove 40 hours and spent 40 hours in the stand to get only two shots. My first shot was at 5 yards at a 200 pound boar but the dart was deflected by a mesquite branch. The second shot was at 12 yards but the wind was blowing hard and gusty and I just plain missed. The pigs were moving very late at night under the full moon. I had a great time anyway. I found an ancient dart point in the sand near where I was hunting which was the highlight of the trip.
My next trip will be to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky for the annual atlatl fishing trip on May 3, 4, 5 and 6, 2007. Thunderbird Atlatl will be sponsoring a $100 cash prize or a $250 merchandise prize from our catalog to the largest atlatl caught fish. Call me for information if you would like to join us. 1 800 836 4520 Bob Berg
