Missouri news media is announcing that the first deer has been taken with an atlatl during the Missouri hunting season. Missouri legalized deer hunting with atlatls last year.
The hunter used an ash dart manufactured from our shop and an atlatl he built himself. Congratulations to Luke Boenker!

One of the nicest things about working at Thunderbird Atlatl is the people we meet as we travel around or on the phone when you call our shop! We’ve been making atlatls for over 20 years so we’ve met a lot of great people over the years. Thank you all for your support and stories. We love hearing about how much people enjoy using the atlatl and that they appreciate our products. Our atlatls are being used all over the world even in Mongolia thanks to our son, Peter! Peter recently traveled to the Gobi Desert and introduced a family he stayed with to atlatls.

Day Atlatl Event in Deerfield, Massachusetts October 15
The second Annual Stone Age & Primitive Skills Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in Deerfield, Massachusetts.
The event is sponsored by the Franklin County Sportsmen’s Club & Deerfield Education & Conservation Corporation
This event is free, and will be held rain or shine. Besides an ISAC, the event will include the bola, primitive archery, hands-on ice age art, music of the ancients and throwing and thrusting spears, as well as a variety of skills used by our distant ancestors. Throwing games will include the charging beast challenge and the chaotic hoop game. Instruction will be provided, and there will be food for sale. Atlatlists Prepare to Cast at Last Year’s Deerfield Event
Marlin Bassett, Grand Champion, Candor Fall Festival
The weather was “Fall Perfect” this past weekend at the Candor Fall Festival. A number of visitors had an opportunity to try the atlatl at our location at Sidehill Acres Goat Farm.
In the local contest, Marlin Bassett, 8, was our grand champion! Congratulations Marlin. Marlin’s Dad, Doug, came in at second place and Danny Brophy placed third. Congratulations everyone and thanks for participating.
