Thunderbird Atlatl at the Pennsic Wars!

Members of the Thunderbird Atlatl staff will be at the Pennsic Wars, about an hour north of Pittsburgh, Pa., August 3 to August 11.

Atlatl Battles are scheduled for Friday, August 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, August 7, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All take place on the battlefield.

Check out the schedule and activities for this year’s Pennsic War. Members of our staff will be in and out of the shop during the week. Stoneage Living at the Land of Legends in Denmark!

Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl will be spending a week in Denmark participating in the 2012 Athra Gathering at the Land of Legends Living History museum in Lejer. Bob will be at Lejre through July 28.

During the week Bob and other participants will join a network of living history enthusiasts and crafts people in living a stoneage lifestyle. Bob will offer atlatl workshops every day and provide workshops in other primitive skill areas.

Following his return to the United States, Thunderbird Atlatl will make its annual trek to the Pennsic War from August 3 to August 10.

25th Annual World Atlatl Association Meeting July 12 to 15!

Wisconsin Atlatlists will host the 25th Annual World Atlatl Association Meeting July 12 to 15!

The event will take place at the Izaak Walton League A.D. Sutherland Chapter near Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Early setup and ISAC competitions will be available on Thursday July 12. Event and ISAC and other competitions will continue through Sunday morning July 15th. A general meeting and social event will take place Saturday, July 14.

It is about one mile from stores and restaurants. There is limited rustic camping on site. There is a participation fee of $5 per participant.

·U.S. Open Atlatl Championship qualifiers Thursday thru Saturday morning, Championship Round Saturday afternoon.
· European Round, 3-D Hunters Round, Small Game Challenge Round, and other possible events.

Enjoy July 4th festivities! After the parades, carnivals, barbecues, fireworks and other activities, an impromptu atlatl contest is a great way to celebrate the 4th!

The World Atlatl Association will host its annual meeting July 12 to 15 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Workshops in Eisenbach, Germany

Bob Berg will offer two Atlatl & Dart Workshops at The International Bogen-und Messermesse in Eisenbach, Germany, Friday, June 29 and Monday, July 2. Eisenbach is located in Germany’s beautiful Black Forest region. By the end of the workshop, you will have built your own atlatl, as well as three darts, and learned several primitive skills.

The goal of the workshops are to have participants learn the interesting process of creating functional darts and also an atlatl.
You’ll develop several skills necessary to make and use atlatls:
Flintknapping
Heat straightening wood and bamboo dart shafts
Fletching
Cordage making
Usage of various natural glue
Bob’s teaching includes the development of good form using the atlatl which, with practice, will lead to accuracy.

Bob Berg has conducted workshops of this kind for over 15 years and has had over 22 years of experience in the subject.

Workshop Cost: 50 Euros.
Includes instruction and all of the materials necessary to build an atlatl and 3 darts.
