Delaware River Sojurn

Thunderbird Atlatl is back from Virginia and we will be joining participants of the Delaware River Sojurn Sunday evening.
In Virginia, we visited the Virginia Renaissance Faire for its last weekend. The archery set up was impressive. Mistress Sue and crew run a very informative archery program for the general public. She was kind enough to let Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl demonstrate the atlatl and give a couple of programs during our visit.
Our next stop was to Roanoke, Virginia where we were the guests of the Bureau of Land Management for the Outdoor Writers Association Conference. We we able to, with fantastic help from the BLM staff, let dozens of people try the atlatl – many for the first time. We participated in the conference’s “Shooting Day”.
Sunday evening, Atlatl Bob Berg will give a presentation on the atlatl and other primitive technologies at Minisink Ford, New York, along the Delaware River. We will be guests of the National Park Service for this program. The program begins at 8 p.m. and the public is invited. For further information, please contact us at 1-800-836-4520 or 607-743-4379.

Atlatl Season Under Way

The busy atlatl season has started in. We will be traveling this weekend to Virginia to two shows- one at the Lake Anna Winery Renaissance Festival in Spotsylvania and the second at the Outdoor Writers Association in Roanoke.
We are looking forward to both events.Manufacturing is in high gear at Thunderbird Atlatl Bob Berg and crew are busy making all types of atlatls and getting ready for another run of darts.
If you are going to be near one of the shows or workshops, we will be at – please stop in and meet us. The Pennsic Wars is the only show we attend where it is difficult to just stop in. If you are going to be in the area when we are at Pennsic, just give us a call and we can make arrangements to meet you.
While we are on the road, you can leave a message on our answering machine at 1-800-836-4520 or give us a call on our cell phone: 607-743-4379. You can also leave a message if we are unable to answer. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

We will be finalizing our spring, summer and fall schedule in the next few days so check out our event page to see where we will be this summer. If you are interested in attending a workshop, either call Thunderbird Atlatl at 800-836-4520 or the program’s sponsors.
We will be at the Primitive Pursuits Day on May 19th in Ithaca, New York. If you are in the area, it is an interesting day for those who want to learn primitive skills. It is a family event and folks of all ages are welcome. The event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.

The Aztecs & the Atlatl, Upcoming Events!

The Aztecs and their use of the atlatl was featured in a recent History Channel production. Josh Bernstein of Digging for the Truth showed how atlatls were used by the Aztecs. Mr. Bernstein interviewed William R. Perkins for the program. William Perkins refers to himself as “Atlatl Bob” – probably because his middle name is Robert.
Of course, the “Atlatl Bob” is sometimes confusing to our customers who think they know “Atlatl Bob” because of Bob Berg of Thunderbird Atlatl. So for the record, Bob Berg is not “Atlatl Bob”!
We are busy scheduling events for the summer months and are looking forward to the many workshops and shows we have planned. The World Atlatl Association will be meeting in New York State this year. It will be great to have our many atlatl friends in New York and in attendance at the popular Stone Tool Technology Show.
The New York Atlatl Association will hold a meeting next week at the Earth Day Show in Chemung, New York Check out the World Atlatl Association, International Atlatl Society, or New York Atlatl Association web pages for more information.
Thunderbird Atlatl will be sponsoring an Atlatl Fishing Contest at the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky the first weekend in May. Please give us a call at 1-800-836-4520 or email us at Thunderbirdatlatl@gmail.com for more information.
