Silver River Knapin Cancelled!

The Silver River Knapin has been cancelled for 2024. We will try to set up an atlatl contest in the Gainesville, Florida area. Watch for updates.

Silver River sent out the following annoucement:

,”After a lot of consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Silver River Knap-In and Prehistoric Arts festival this weekend due to the persistent rainy weather forecast on Saturday and Sunday. We know from experience this will result in a very low attendance. We rely on gate admission income to cover event expenses.
The event will not be rescheduled but we do plan to hold it as normal in 2025. We apologize for this but we wanted to notify everyone in advance so that plans could be changed.
There is another knap-in the following weekend near the Flint River in Georgia. For more information about that event please contact John Lane at flintriverknapin@gmail.com.
If you are from out of state and are in need of camping accommodations this weekend, please call me here at the museum so that we can discuss options with you (352) 236-5401.
Thank you all and we are sorry for any problems this causes.”

Still time to order for Christmas delivery! Gift Certificates also available!

Our elves are busy at the Thunderbird Atlatl shop. We are working closely with delivery services to make sure orders go out in time for delivery by Christmas. We usually use priority mail because our post office is just down the street and delivery is pretty quick. We also can ship via UPS/Fed Ex/DHL if that works better for you.

The post office says the last day to ship priority mail for delivery by Christmas is Saturday, December 21. If you want to guarantee delivery, we can ship via Priority Mail Express. There is an extra charge but delivery is guaranteed.

Worried about delivery and not sure what to get for a gift, you can order a gift certificate. We can send the gift certificate in regular mail or deliver it via email. An atlatl kit also makes a nice gift and is a great holiday project.

Making an atlatl kit or fletching a dart from a dart kit is a great way to spend your winter hours. This photo is from the Aleut Community in Alaska. We are glad they enjoyed using our atlatl and darts. More photos at the end of this article.

Feel free to call us at 1-800-836-4520 or 607-659-3854 Leave a message if we don’t answer (we might be at the post office!) or try our cell phone number which is available on our answering machine. You can also send us an email at contact@thunderbirdatlatl.com and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
